Famous Rock Private Limited is a young, dynamic agribusiness company, head-quartered in Chato, Geita Region, United Republic of Tanzania , delivering quality sustainable and responsibly sourced tobacco to global customers. The core business of the company has been as a tobacco leaf supplier, purchasing, processing, packing, storing and shipping tobacco around the globe to manufacturers of consumer products. To anchor its business of leaf supplying, the company contract farmers throughout tobacco growing regions of Tanzania and providing agronomic extension services to contracted farmers. Our portfolio of offerings in tobacco includes Flue Cured Virginia (strips/lamina, cut rag, raw stems & expanded stems, and fines), Burley, Dark Fire Cured, and the recently launched Cigar Wrappers being grown in the Western region on Tanzania.
Famous Rock Private Limited is focused on developing sustainable farming models that will promote increased volumes of quality and quantity of agricultural produce through efficient tobacco production methods, whilst also diversifying farmer crop portfolios. We are committed to responsible crop production that supports economic viability for the farmer, provides a safe working atmosphere for farmworkers and minimizes negative environmental impacts. Our agronomists maintain frequent contact with our contracted farmers prior to and during the growing and curing seasons to provide technical assistance to improve the quality and yield of the crop.
The team have many years of collective experience in the local and global tobacco industry, are passionate about diversified, sustainable small-scale farming models, and have a fresh perspective and vision for the tobacco production process.
